The Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour and Local Government is pleased to introduce Ms. Elsa Cardinez, as the new head of the Rural Development Unit. Ms. Cardinez was born and raised in the village of Teakettle, Cayo District, where she spent her childhood years. From an early age of 7, Ms. Cardinez developed a passion for conservation and preservation of our natural resources, which helped in paving her path to focus her studies on sustainable development. Ms. Cardinez has a Bachelor’s Degree from Galen University and a Master’s Degree in Environmental Sustainable Development from the National Central University in Taiwan.
Upon her return to Belize, Ms. Cardinez has since been working with the Ministry of Natural Resources on policy and debt management. Ms. Cardinez is driven and self-motivated and is looking forward to contributing to our Rural Transformation agenda.
