Town Hall Meetings
The Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour and Local Government and PPF Capital Belize Limited will be conducting town hall meetings across the country to discuss the government's implementation plan for the proposed minimum wage increase to BZ$5.00/hour. Tasks include:
●Measuring the impact of an increase in the minimum wage for all unskilled workers and workers engaged in elementary occupations;
●identifying the interventions required to strengthen enforcement mechanisms in order to achieve compliance; and
●Developing a formula for gradual increases in the minimum wage for specific sectors, as well as future wage adjustments.
The public is invited to share their views on the minimum wage increase from various community and business sectors. These town hall meetings will inform the proposals on wage increase implementation that the Minimum Wage Task Force intends to present to the government.
